Snow Removal
Homeowners or occupants are responsible for snow removal of their sidewalks, driveways and their walkways between their house and the sidewalk.  Keeping the sidewalk in front of your home cleared of snow is necessary to keep sidewalks hazard free and to avoid ice accumulation.  If a home is a rental, it is the homeowner’s responsibility to advise their occupant of snow removal responsibilities.

The PMV HOA is responsible for the snow plowing of our streets and alleys when we receive four inches of snow or more. As a courtesy, PMV will plow parkway sidewalks after four inches of snow.

When a heavy snowfall is in the forecast, we ask that everyone remove all vehicles from the streets. This simple step will help prevent the unintentional plowing into vehicles, which can happen on icy road conditions

The fire department appreciates your help in keeping the fire hydrants free of snow. It could save precious minutes in case of a fire.

City of Sisters rules regarding snow removal from sidewalks both commercial and private as copied from their website :

REMINDER:
When clearing sidewalks DO NOT move snow into the streets or gutter, where it may be plowed back onto the sidewalk or clog storm drain inlets and lead to localized flooding in a storm event. Instead, move snow toward your property line, away from the street.

Snow should not remain on the sidewalk adjacent to your property for a period longer than the first six hours of daylight after the snow has fallen in the commercial areas and one day in all other areas.
Ice should not remain on the sidewalk for more than six hours of daylight in commercial areas and one day in all other areas after the ice has formed unless the ice is covered with sand, cinder, or other suitable materials to assure safe travel.

In addition, maintaining the sidewalks adjacent to curb ramps and bulb-outs is imperative. This will enable people, including those with disabilities, easy access to the commercial services through the winter months.

When public walks are found in violation, the property owner can be issued a citation. For questions regarding the snow removal ordinance or procedures, please contact Code Enforcement Services at (541) 323-5207 or at cjenkins@ci.sisters.or.us

Tree Pruning for Safety
We would like to request that homeowners or occupants prune tree limbs that are above sidewalks to make it safer for people enjoying an evening walk after dark.  Low tree limbs are a safety issue not only for walkers, but also for sidewalk snow removal.

The City of Sisters will also be pruning trees in Pine Meadow Village that overhang city property (streets) or public rights-of-way (sidewalks).  Trees have been marked and recorded by the City in preparation for the pruning project.
